May 25th- I ran my first 5K run in 28.29 without using my puffer. |
Between 2005 and 2007 up until the time of taking medication for the under-active thyroid, my weight fluctuated. Whilst my diet was good and my determination and enthusiasm was high… I was not losing the weight.
There were many times when I wondered, 'what is going on? I am going to the gym 3 to 5 times a week, why is this weight not "budging" ?.'
I have to say, in my situation, it was due to the under active thyroid.
In 2005, when I joined the gym, my weight was 85 kilograms. In April 2007 it was 80 kilograms and today it is at 67 kilograms. My goal is to reach 58 kilograms.
My whole reason for starting this journey was because I didn’t want to grow old and be taking pills for my heart, blood pressure etc. I wanted a good quality of life even when I'm old. The son I lost (Joshua) opened my eyes and made me a stronger person. My children (Chantel and Jeremy) need me to be true, honest and strong to myself and to them, as does my wonderful, supportive and loving husband Peter.
As a result of my efforts, I no longer have epilepsy, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, fatty liver or any of the other illnesses which were all hormone related. I wholly attribute this turnaround to my change in diet, exercise, and a strong mind/determination to beat it all.
